Dr. Nicholas Fusco
Director of Interprofessional Synchronization
Nicholas Fusco is a nationally recognized pharmacy educator and pediatric pharmacotherapy specialist with more than a decade of experience advancing team‑based clinical training across the health professions. A Clinical Professor and Division Head for Education and Teaching Innovation at the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, he leads initiatives that strengthen how students and clinicians learn, collaborate, and deliver care.
Dr. Fusco is dual board certified in Pharmacotherapy and Pediatric Pharmacy and has provided acute care clinical services at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo since 2013. His clinical and scholarly work centers on optimizing medication use in hospitalized children, with contributions spanning antimicrobial stewardship, acute kidney injury, cystic fibrosis management, and pediatric infectious diseases.
A leader in interprofessional education, Dr. Fusco has designed and evaluated large‑scale, simulation‑enhanced learning experiences involving students from medicine, nursing, physical therapy, public health, social work, and pharmacy. His programs—ranging from immersive escape‑room simulations to competency‑based communication training—have been implemented across multiple institutions and recognized by national organizations including the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and the National Academies of Practice.
